Gilbert Stuart Birthplace:
First operating snuff mill in America. Gilbert Stuart was born here in 1755 and was the foremost portraitist of George Washington (the dollar bill).

Smith's Castle: One mile south of Wickford Motor Inn, Smith's Castle is the site of trading centers established by Richard Smith and Roger Williams in 1637. In 1700, it was a slave holding estate.

 

Wickford Village: Shopping and antiquing is just minutes away in historic Wickford Village.

Old Narragansett Church: Dating back to 1707, the Old Narragansett Church is one of the oldest Episcopal churches in America. It is one of the four original coloinal parishes in Rhode Island. It houses the oldest church organ (1680) in North America. Gilbert Stuart (above) was baptized here.
